Avocado Oil is a nutrient-dense oil, containing essential vitamins such as E, K, and C, along with potassium and folate (vitamin B-9).
Kenya is the largest African producer with 345,000 tons, followed by South Africa and Tanzania. Other major producers include Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire), Ghana, and Ethiopia.
The Kenya Avocado Market is regulated by the AFA (Agricultural Food Authority) that ensures the harvesting season of Avocadoes is closely monitored so that farmers do not harvest immature fruits and compromise the quality standards of the oil in the International Market.
The Avocado Oil season runs from Early March to Late October each year.
Most Oils are exported to the European market which is very lucrative and enticing however Chinese Market is coming up and we anticipate China being a significant player in the European market in the future.
For organic avocado oil, the most used varieties are "Hass" and "Fuerte". These avocado varieties provide large amount of oil, ripen quickly and require smaller cultivation areas compared to other varieties.
Local varieties also supplement the market gaps to ensure there is enough oil to cover the market.
